Business support and development
Core Experience of Principals:
MD of an SME for 7 years (and all that goes with that). I understand
the drivers very well. GM Finance/CFO of two large corporates.
Specific experience: Strategic planning (development and implentation),
Business Plans (that mean something and that WORK), Due diligence
examinations, ISO 9000 implementation, Financing and banking
relationships. I do get RESULTS and deliver VALUE to my clients.
I also have experience in Not for Profits, having been VP of
a charibale organisation for several years. I also have direct
experience in fund raising and sponsorship and delivering value
for the sponsors.
Strategic planning and strategy implementation in SME's (as well
as larger organisations). Turned a loss making SME (turnover
<$7m which grew to nearly $14m over 5 years, an annual compound
growth rate of 15%) into a profitable one in first year as MD
(ie direct experience in growth and cost control/reduction).
Developed new distribution channels. Maintained profitability
and developed and successfully implented a business and marketing
plan to drive this business forward into new markets with new
products. Negotiated a large contract ($2m) to supply telephony
equipment tp Parliament House, Canberra with the Federal Government
and successfully (and profitably) completed this contract with
a 7 year, $100k pa maintenance agreement attached. Achieved and
maintained ISO 9001:2000 quality accreditation. As part of a
worldwide restructuring in 2003 of the ultimate shareholder (a
Swiss telecommunications group) following large losses incurred
in Europe, I developed an exit strategy for the Swiss shareholders
and negotiated a sale on terms and conditions acceptable to the
Swiss in 2004 (first having taken an option to buy the business
myself). I have also been General Manager, Finance of Dyno Nobel
Asia Pacific, part of the Norwegian mining explosives manufacturer
Dyno Nobel and also CFO of Prime Television, a regional TV broadcaster.
I was also contracted (separately) by Dyno head office in Oslo
to conduct a due diligence examination of a Thai company following
the Asian currency meltdown in 1997. Dyno proceeded to acquire
this company on the basis of my report and it has turned into
a very rewarding opportunity for them. Before that I gained valuable
experience with Gresham Partners, an investment bank 50% owned
by Wesfarmers Limited where I gained exposure to equity raising,
company valuations sale/purchase of businesses for corporates.
I originally qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse,
with whom I worked in Sydney, London and Jakarta. People tell
me that I know a lot of people (sometimes this can come in handy).
