Core Experience of Principals:
A member of the core group of entrepreneurial leaders who
took a promotional concept and built it into the largest publisher
of custom newsletters in the North America. During initial assignment
assumed full responsibility for the design, creation and preparation
for all client publications. Recruited, trained, and supervised
growing staff of artists, designers, and print production specialists.
Led company's early conversion into state-of-the art desktop
publishing hardware/software resulting in improved turnaround
times and reduced staffing costs. Expanded role included supervision
of pre-press, printing, binding, and fulfillment activities with
staff of 75 employees and $12 million annual budget. Executed
company's move to new 50,000 square foot industrial facility;
oversaw the acquisition and installation of both web and sheet
fed multi-color printing presses; supervised transition to all
digital pre-press operation; reduced printing production turnaround
time by 25%; improved gross margin from 59% to 67%; established
and supervised network of outside printing vendor/partners in
Chicago, Los Angeles and Toronto to accomplish company's larger
and more complex publications; served as a member of the company's
Board of Directors; assisted in the negotiation sale of the company
to Reed Elsevier, a $5 billion Anglo-Dutch global publishing
business; assisted in the cloning of company's newsletter concept
in London. During subsequent ownership change was reassigned
to lead Creative Services with full responsibility for over 100
researchers, writers, designers, graphic specialists, and production/traffic
personnel.
